For the past twenty years, the Eiteljorg Museum has focused much attention and resources on exhibitions and programs that reveal and illuminate the ethic, cultural, and personal diversity of the authentic West as a counterpoint to popular, stereotypical notions of the mythic West of the media. Over the years the Eiteljorg has produced and hosted important exhibitions on not only the diversity of Native American cultures and experiences, but also the contributions of African Americans, Latinos, and others in the collective story of the West.

Blake Little: "Photographs of the Gay Rodeo" opened with a well-attended and exuberant party, followed by a six-months-long, steady stream of Museum visitors who expressed deep interest and great appreciation that the Museum had presented the exhibition. From the moment we saw the photographs hanging in the gallery, it was clear that the exhibition should travel and that Blake Little's work deserved to be captured in a book.
